Bovine Collagen Type II
BCol2-18
Product Description
Bovine Collagen Type II is a natural biomaterial commonly used in bioink formulations for cartilage-related tissue engineering. As a key structural component of cartilage extracellular matrix, it provides a favorable microenvironment for cell attachment and growth.
This product is extracted and purified from cattle articular cartilage using enzymatic digestion under mild, low-temperature conditions, which helps preserve the native structure and biological activity of collagen. At higher concentrations (typically 5–10 mg/mL), the material can self-assemble into a hydrogel at neutral pH and room temperature, forming a three-dimensional matrix suitable for cell culture and biofabrication.
Due to these properties, bovine Type II collagen is widely used in bioinks for 3D bioprinting, particularly for cartilage tissue engineering, cell encapsulation, and the development of cartilage-like constructs.
